Primary and Secondary School and Assembly Prototype Buildings
Republic of Haiti
Stephens Associates Consulting Engineers (SA) structurally designed two prototype buildings for construction at multiple locations across Haiti. The two-story buildings are concrete-framed with light-gauge steel truss roof systems designed for earthquake and wind resistance according to the International Building Code.
SA specified geotechnical design parameters applicable to wide-ranging geotechnical conditions, to be confirmed for individual sites prior to construction. SA prepared design drawings English and SI units, estimated material quantities and costs, and consulted with client on alternate roof systems.
The new school and assembly buildings were built in 2014 in town of Léogâne, the epicenter of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, funded by donations raised by the Vatican to help reconstruct the country after the earthquake.
